Adobe FrameMaker: Authoring Structured Documents

An enterprise-class authoring and publishing solution that combines the simplicity of word processing with the power of XML. Enjoy WYSIWYG authoring in either a familiar word processing, style-tagging mode or a fully structured environment optimized for the editing and production of valid XML. Long-document support includes book management features, sophisticated templates, and rich formatting options. Experience built-in support for high-quality printing, the latest Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) standards, and integration of Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG). And use the included WebWorks Publisher Standard Edition to automatically create HTML versions of your documents and books.

Overview: This two-day course teaches participants the skills necessary to author structured documents using FrameMaker. This course is developed specifically for clients requiring users to work with existing structured templates.

Duration: 2 days

Fee: $690 per person.

Prerequisite: Unstructured FrameMaker Basics or equivalent knowledge.

Delivery: Instructor-led, hands-on, classroom-delivery training.

Materials: Participants receive reference materials related to course topics. Follow up support by email or phone, on topics covered, is available to participants for 90 days.

Objectives: Upon successful completion attendees will be able to:
  • Create documents with a variety of content using FrameMaker
  • Recognize structured documents and the elements which are to be used in the creation of content
  • Use the Element Catalog, Attributes and the Structure view in the creation of structured documents
  • Understand the relationship between various elements as siblings, parents, children, ancestors and descendants
  • Insert content using elements which are moved, deleted, merged or split as required
  • Add text, tables and graphics to documents as structured components of a hierarchical template
  • Insert, modify and delete content in table heading, cells, headers and footers and merge cell content if required
  • Insert, modify and delete cross-references within documents and between files
  • Work with footnotes
  • Import graphics from various formats
  • Create and maintain generated files such as tables of contents and indices
