Microsoft Access: Database Design

Overview: This two day course teaches participants the skills necessary to plan and develop a database and work with data to sort and filter content, create tables and develop simple forms.

Duration: 2 days

Fee: $590 per person

Prerequisite: Microsoft Windows: Introductory or similar experience.

Delivery: Instructor-led, group-paced, classroom-delivery learning model with structured hands-on activities and assignments.

Materials: Participants receive reference materials related to course topics. Sample files used in class are available by email, or on disk. Follow up support by email or phone, on topics covered, is available to participants for 90 days.

Objectives: Upon successful completion attendees will be able to:
  • Identifying the components of a database, and working with those components.
  • Opening a table, finding information stored there, and entering data.
  • Creating a table design from a template, and customizing it.
  • Entering data into tables, and ensuring its accuracy by using input masks and input validation formulas.
  • Creating relationships between tables to ensure data accuracy and to deploy referential integrity.
  • Creating forms for entering data into tables, and changing the design elements that have been placed on those forms.
  • Creating several query types, editing and running queries, and using action and calculation queries.
  • Creating several report types, enhancing reports, and printing and previewing. reports.
  • Importing and exporting data to and from various sources, including Word and Excel.
  • Previewing and printing database objects, and changing the page setup options.
