The Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) is an XML-based architecture for authoring, managing, and publishing your organization's technical content. DITA was designed to meet the evolving needs of organizations in the face of today's business requirements - for managing and publishing content for multiple products, multiple audiences, and multiple output formats.

Prerequisite: Adobe FrameMaker: Basics training or equivalent knowledge.

Materials: Participants receive reference materials related to course topics. Sample files used in class are available by email, or on disk. Follow up support by email or phone, on topics covered, is available to participants for 90 days.

• Create task, concept, and reference topics using structured FrameMaker.

• Create DITA map files to specify collections of topics.

• Use DITA map files to specify hierarchical and sequential relationships between topics.

• Publish DITA topics as FrameMaker books.

• Understand DITA content references (conrefs) to re-use DITA content.

• Apply Metadata to support filtering of DITA content for multiple audiences.

• Customize the FrameMaker DITA template to adjust the format of DITA PDF output.

• Specialize the FrameMaker DITA plug-in to meet more specific information modeling requirements.
